Why do some fruits like mango have one seed whereas some fruits like apple and pea pods have multiple seeds?

Number of seeds in a fruit depends on the number of ovules in an ovary.
Apple and pea flowers has several ovules in the ovary that develops into multiple seeds.
Mango flower has a single ovule in the ovary that develops into a single seed.
